I have had such a wonderful week with my F-I-L, family and friends. I have also made some of my own DIY Vintage Doily Art. That is what Summertime is all about, right?

Summertime also reminds me of great times with my grandparents. When I was a young child, my grandma would sit on her sofa watching TV and crocheting. It could have been a gift, table cloth, doily, or a bed skirt. There were many times I would place my head on her lap while she was crocheting. What a sweet childhood memory.

Little did I realize that I would be the recipient of such beautiful hand work from my grandma and HER mother (my great-grandmother).

Look at the detailed flower in the middle of this doily. So tiny, and perfect!

Having had all of these precious doilies for years in a box, I knew I needed to display them in our home.

After taking time to appreciate them, looking at all the detail, how delicate, and what patience that it took to make each individual piece-I finally decided how I would display them.

It took me awhile to figure out which ones I wanted to use for my DIY Vintage Doily Art, because each doily has it’s own beauty.

My final idea was to display my family doilies on a burlap canvas.

Using fabric glue I adhered the doilies in place. (I used the tiniest drops of glue, so I would not ruin the integrity of each piece)

After 24 hours my DIY Vintage Doily Art was ready to hang.

I love this look against my thrifted shutter.

It seemed only fitting that I used some vintage lace from my grandma’s collection to make a hanger. The vintage lace adds just the right touch.

Make Your Own Vintage Doily Art

Some might say that I have “ruined” these vintage pieces of art. BUT, for me, they are now a part of my home, rather than sitting in a box gathering dust.

I also imagine my grandma being very pleased with my decision. She would say, “Well, Sugar Pie, would you look at that?” She would also be humbled that I would want to share her beautiful handwork in my home.

What family treasure do you display in your home? Do you have doilies like I do? What would you make with your doilies?

Thanks for joining me today as I shared my DIY Vintage Doily Art.

I am REALLY happy you stopped by. I love your comments and ideas.

Make it a terrific Thursday.
